“I was born and educated in Sheffield, studying for four years at the Faculty of Art and Design on Psalter Lane obtaining a B A Honours Degree in Painting and Printmaking. Followed by a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Teaching at the Collegiate Crescent site. I have taught in various local schools and at the Sheffield Mappin and Graves Art Galleries.

I now dedicate my time to my painting, and I exhibit in local shows, galleries, restaurants and shops, in both Sheffield and Derbyshire, winning various Competitions throughout the UK over the years.

I am a member of Peak District Products a Derbyshire based group of professional fellow artists who I share shows, exhibitions, ideas and exchange of views.
My studio based at Summerley near Dronfield, this tranquil rural environment has provided my artistic stimulation and inspiration with the opportunity to study my subjects on a daily basis at close quarters.

I work directly on the canvas, I do not sketch out a plan, my pictures evolve in a similar way to arranging a pile of furniture in a room, ultimately everything has it place. I make mistakes along the way, and make adjustments, but this is all part of the process of how I paint.

Alex was born in 1968 in the heart of Perthshire in Scotland in a town called Blairgowrie. He was singer with Britpop indie Stars Hurricane#1 and signed to the infamous Alan Mcgee Label (Creation) they had a string of top 40 hit singles and 2 top 20 albums. in the mid to late 90,s. The guitarist and main songwriter Andy Bell went on to join Gay Dad and then eventually playing bass with Oasis he is now the guitarist with Liam Gallaghers new band Beady Eye. Alex went on to do 4 solo albums 1 on Sony records and the others on his own label 12 Ft Wide Records.

He is now an accomplished abstract impressionist artist and has sold many paintings around the world including to a few stars such as Woody Allen, Mike Tyson, Donald Trump and his old boss, Music Guru, Alan McGee to name a few. His paintings could be described in the same Genre as Jackson Pollock but with a twist. Alex has also been working on a new Art project with Alan McGee. Alex predominantly works with arcylic mediums on very large canvas. “Big makes more of a statement in my eyes and hopefully the public agrees.” (Alex Lowe)
